Rarely the posed one. Mid-play, asleep in a patch of sun, or looking straight at the camera — those usually paint into something worth hanging.
A photo from years ago
Older phone photos are lower resolution than today's, and painting styles handle that well: the softness reads as brushwork rather than as a bad photo.
More than one pet in the frame
If they are in the same photo, say which ones matter and the painting keeps them as the subject.
Something beside the animal
Their bed, their spot on the sofa, the lead on the hook by the door. A place can carry as much as a portrait does.

Questions
Which photo works best?
One where the face is clearly visible and reasonably lit. A photo taken at their eye level usually paints better than one looking down at them. Blurry or dark photos can still work, but the clearer the face, the closer the likeness.
What if the only photos I have are from a phone, years ago?
That's the normal case and it's fine. Older phone photos are lower resolution than today's, and painting styles handle that well — the softness reads as brushwork rather than as a bad photo.
Can you include more than one pet?
Yes. If they're in the same photo, describe which ones matter and the painting keeps them as the subject. Two pets from two separate photos can't be combined into one piece today — that would need editing we don't offer.
Can I see it before I pay?
Yes — generating the painting and previewing it on a wall are free and need no account. If the first result isn't right, describe it differently and go again, also free.
What happens to the photo I upload?
It's used to make your piece and nothing else. We never display, publish, or sell it. Email hello@vistelastudio.com if you'd like it deleted.
Is the artwork AI-generated?
Yes — digitally created from your photo and professionally printed, rather than hand-painted by an artist. We say so everywhere we sell.
