Which photo to use
A photo you already return to
Not necessarily the formal portrait. The candid one — mid-laugh, at a table, outdoors — is often the photo that paints into something worth hanging.
An old print, decades old
Scanned or photographed. Grain, fading and soft focus are the qualities painting styles handle most forgivingly, so an old photograph often comes out well.
A photo with more than one person
Groups and pairs work. Describe who matters most in the frame and the painting keeps them as the subject.
Something that isn't a face
Their house, their boat, their workshop, the dog they walked every morning. A place or an object can carry as much of a person as a portrait does.

Questions
Can you work from an old or damaged photo?
Often yes. Painting styles are forgiving of grain, soft focus, and the colour shifts of an aging print — the things that make a photo look its age tend to read as character once it's painted. A scan or a phone photo of a print both work.
What if it's the only photo I have?
Your photo is never altered or consumed — it's read, and the painting is generated separately. You keep the original exactly as it was. If the only copy is a physical print, photograph it in even daylight rather than under a lamp and it will come through fine.
Will it look like them?
It's a painting made from your photograph, so it carries their features and the composition of the original — but it is an interpretation, not a reproduction. You see the result free before you pay anything, so you can judge the likeness yourself rather than take our word for it. If it isn't right, describe it differently and generate again, also free.
Can I see it before I pay anything?
Yes. Uploading the photo, generating the painting, and previewing it on a wall are all free and need no account. You only pay if you decide to order a print or buy the digital file.
What happens to the photo I upload?

What size works for a memorial piece?
For something meant to hold a wall, 18″×24″ to 24″×36″ reads as a real piece rather than a print. A framed canvas arrives inside a pine floating frame with hanging hardware attached, so it can go straight up. Smaller sizes from 8″×10″ suit a shelf or a bedside.
Is the artwork AI-generated?
Yes. Your photo and your instructions guide an AI image model, and the result is finished at high resolution for printing. It is digitally created from your photo and professionally printed on canvas or paper — not hand-painted by an artist. We say so plainly because a piece like this shouldn't come with a misunderstanding attached.
How long does it take?
The artwork itself is ready in about a minute. Prints are made to order — usually 2–5 business days to make, then 3–4 business days to ship within the US, so most orders arrive in about one to two weeks. Checkout shows the estimated arrival window for your address before you pay. Shipping is free within the US. The digital file is available immediately if you need it sooner.
