Choosing the right photo
- Clear beats recent. A sharp photo from 1968 will paint better than a dark one from last year.
- Let the subject fill the frame. If the person or object you care about is small in the photo, say so in your instruction and ask for it to be the focus.
- Scanned prints work. A phone photo of a physical print is usually enough; lay it flat, avoid glare, and shoot straight down.
- Ask for changes you want. You can request that a distracting background, a stray object, or a leash be left out.
Questions
Can you work from an old or scanned photo?
Yes, and those often work best. Painting styles are forgiving of grain, soft focus, and the color shifts you get in older prints — the qualities that make an old photo look its age tend to read as character once it's painted.
What if the photo has more than one person in it?
That's fine. Groups, pairs, and a person with their aircraft, truck, boat, or dog all work. Describe who or what matters most in the frame and the painting will keep that as the subject.
Can I see it before I pay anything?
Yes. Uploading a photo, generating the artwork, and previewing it on a wall are all free and need no account. You only pay if you decide to order a print or buy the digital file.
How long does it take to arrive?
The artwork itself is ready in about a minute. Prints are made to order — usually 2–5 business days to make, then 3–4 business days to ship within the US, so most orders arrive in about one to two weeks. Checkout shows the estimated arrival window for your address before you pay. Shipping is free within the US. If you need it faster, the digital file is available immediately and can be printed locally.
What size and format work for a gift like this?
For a piece meant to be the focal point of a room, something in the 18″×24″ to 24″×36″ range reads as a real gift. A framed canvas is usually the right format for giving — it arrives inside a pine floating frame (black, white, or brown) with hanging hardware attached, so the person opens it finished rather than being handed a job to do.
Is the artwork AI-generated?
Yes. Your photo and your instructions guide an AI image model, and the result is finished at high resolution for printing. That's what makes a one-of-a-kind personal piece possible at this price, and we say so everywhere we sell.
Can it ship straight to the person, or do I need to receive it first?
Either works. Checkout collects the shipping address, so you can send it straight to them at a US address. Tick “This is a gift” at checkout to add a note — it’s printed on the packing slip, and no prices appear on the slip either way. If you’d rather hand it over yourself, ship it to you.
How is this different from just framing the original photo, or an engraved plaque?
A framed photo shows the photo. This repaints it — the same person or place, reimagined as an oil painting, watercolor, or another style you describe — so what arrives is a piece of art made from something they lived, not a reprint of a snapshot. Compared to an engraved plaque or a generic keepsake, it's built from a photo specific to that person rather than a shared template.
